First published in 1986, the journal welcomes contributions from both emerging and established writers and artists, from RCC to across the globe. Every spring, students come together and collaborate to release the latest edition of MUSE, showcasing a diverse collection of art, poetry, and prose.

Our literary journal is a student-driven initiative that showcases the finest work from our creative community. We welcome submissions of art, poetry, and prose every fall, with the aim of publishing an exceptional collection in the spring.
RCC MUSE - General Submissions
Genres:
- Prose - submit one short story or creative nonfiction piece (up to 1500 words max)
- Poetry - submit up to three poems

Please send as an email attachment in .doc, .docx, or .rtf format with 鈥淟ast Name
鈥� Genre 鈥� Title of Submission鈥� in the subject line (e.g., Smith 鈥� Prose 鈥� 鈥淚n Summer鈥�).
Please do not put submissions in the body of the email.
SUBMISSIONS OPEN SEPTEMBER 15 THROUGH DECEMBER 15
- All submissions must be typed.
- Please put your name on each submitted piece; we do not read blind.
- Include a separate cover sheet with your name and all contact information, including email, phone number, address, and a short (approx. 75 word), third-person bio.
- We accept simultaneous submissions. Let us know if the work is accepted elsewhere.
- Authors and artists receive one copy of the issue in which their work appears. Contributors may also purchase additional copies.
- MUSE acquires First North American Serial Rights to the work you submit and non-exclusive reprint rights (for use in promotion, etc.).
- Should the piece be published elsewhere in the future, we ask that you acknowledge MUSE as first place of publication.
- Do not send revisions unless our editors have requested them.
We appreciate your patience; we try to respond to all submissions within six months.

A MUSE 'ZINE
When MUSE was first established in 1986, it focused exclusively on publishing the works of RCC students. Over the years, the journal experienced significant growth, earning recognition as an internationally renowned art and literary publication. Its evolution allowed it to showcase a wide range of artistic expressions from around the globe, enriching the literary landscape.
In 2023, the MUSE staff made the strategic decision to return to its roots, launching a magazine dedicated solely to the creative expressions of RCC students. This new initiative aims to celebrate the unique talents within our community, fostering a supportive environment for local writers and artists to shine. By refocusing on our student body, we hope to cultivate a vibrant artistic community and provide an accessible platform for students to share their work with a wider audience.
